Inconvenience Yourself™ is a way of living.  It includes not only how you behave, but also recognizing and acknowledging the actions of others. This everday concept is celebrated the fourth Wednesday in February - Inconvenience Yourself™ Day February 25, 2009.

Growing up isn't easy.

Kids are faced with choices and must make decisions countless times each day. If you're tired of hearing things like, "Kids, today. They have no respect for anyone.", then adopt the Inconvenience Yourself™ way of living and see what a difference it makes.
Look at the list below. Which of these things are you already doing? Which of these can you start doing today?

Be Polite

  • Say please, thank you, you're welcome, hello, good morning, goodbye, good night, etc.
  • Wait your turn
  • Don't interrupt
  • Allow others to get in line ahead of you

Be Helpful

  • Hold open a door for someone else
  • Pick up things someone else has dropped
  • Help someone with their hands full
  • Be a peace-maker (help friends solve conflict peacefully)

Be Responsible

  • Be honest and dependable
  • Return things after you borrow them
  • Replace things you've borrowed if they're broken
  • Follow directions the first time
  • Do your chores and homework without being asked

Be Kind

  • Give up your seat on the bus or waiting in a restaurant
  • Share with others (both your time and your things)
  • Smile when you say hello
  • Include someone new in games and activities
  • Don't gossip

Attitude Counts

  • Grin and bear it!
  • Don't complain
  • No whining
  • Smile and do what you're asked
  • A good attitude goes a long way
